Blog comments 2.0
The world of blogging hasn't really changed over the last few years, and web users are blogging just as much as they always have. One thing that seems to have changed is comments.
A few years ago Disqus was started, this spawned a little change in commenting. Disqus centralised all comments off the blog and allowed visitors to log in to comment using services such as facebook and twitter.
This year I have noticed a few bloggers disabling comments in favour of gathering feedback from other blogs and twitter. This is all well and good but when a visitor has finished reading the blog post they have to go and search for the comments. Also services such as Twitter are very timely and if the visitor is reading an old blog post, comments are going to be very hard to find.
I'd like to find a solution to this. Is it a browser plugin, is it a module for the cms used by the blogger, is it a third party service like Disqus, or something else?
Help me find blog comments 2.0

Comments
Sell 'em
1. Sell all those services to Yahoo.
2. Wait for Yahoo to ruin and kill them.
3. Eventually everyone will be forced to host their own comments =D
Perhaps aggregating related comments from twitter or other blogs? Rather than simply linking out to them.
.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like plain old anonymous enabled commenting right on the blog. I don't care for logging in with FB/Twitter to comment but will do it if I must. It's rare that I'm a regular commenter on a single blog. I don't consider it joining a community. It's just a quick sharing of my opinion and then I move on. I'll check back a few times to see if anyone responded but then will remove it from my "commented on" bookmarks when there's been nothing new for a few days.
Going somewhere else to comment? Not likely. If I see the link on Twitter and there's no comments enabled I may respond on Twitter. But I'm not going to follow a link from a blog post somewhere else to comment on it unless I really have this burning desire to get my opinion heard.

Disqus for the win!
This is a no-brainer.. Disqus is by far the best service available! It has nice options and integration with 3rd party services and the best part is being able to comment on many sites without having to register or type my email every time :)
Disqus is a lose
When you put comments into Disqus you are losing control of some of the value of your blog. Disqus require the user to log in to see comments, so now your casual readers can't see. And they won't comment if they can't see. Barriers reduce participation.
An vibrant and interesting range of counter-spam techniques are the good for not requiring a registration and allowing casual readers to contribute.
Disqus!
I agree with Alex. Disqus is awesome for blog comments. Besides the social network integration, spam is usually at a minimum and moderating is a breeze. On top of that, it's nice letting a 3rd party service handle the extra load that comments can usually generate on a site.

Is discus available as a wordpress plugin?
Like Disqus only better
I'm currently working on (and will be looking to have a BOF at Drupalcon) a concept of a Disqus like service but where the site providing the plugin is another Drupal site. Why would one take this approach? There are several advantages from not being tied to only providing comments on Drupal sites or not just on nodes, but it also means it's possible to maintain one site that is really good at doing comments and not needing to maintain commenting modules on every site from personal blogs to community sites.
Disqus
Well, let 's put it plain. Disqus sucks!

Disqus seems decent
I won't agree that Disqus sucks. It does seem quite decent. Not great yes but useful and decent yes. Great piece of writing though.
