Drupalcon UK 2011 proposal

Last week the Drupal UK community came together to write a proposal to hold Drupalcon in the UK for 2011.

There was a lot of discussion on the subject of where in the UK is best placed for 2000 geeks. The UK has many big cities each with their own little Drupal community. The biggest factor for Drupalcon is how people get here, it's an international event so an international airport is needed. This made the only real choice, a city near London. We held a vote on Drupal.org.uk and Cambridge came up as the most popular. Cambridge is close enough to London for transport links, but small enough to become a Drupal Town. The only problem we had with Cambridge was it was too small, and didn't have a venue which was big enough. So after a big discussion on #drupaluk IRC, London was picked as the proposed venue.

The final proposal was put together through a shared Google doc and submitted to Groups.Drupal.org. We have a great selection of venues to choose from in London, and a great team of people offering their time.
