DrupalMU.org - Will it be the next WordpressMU?

Wordpress first appeared in 2003 as a single user blogging system, there is now both a hosted version and a downloadable open source version. Some time after the first release of Wordpress, Wordpress MU (or Multi-user) was released. This enables the creation of multiple Wordpress blogs from one Wordpress MU install.

Wim Mostrey has now implemented a similar system within Drupal. In his blog Wim says "Being both excited and nervous I'm launching drupalmu.org as a showcase of the DrupalMU installation profile. Please note that this is not a new social networking site, it is purely for testing and development purposes. Everyone is free however to create an account, start blogging and provide feedback. Bug reports, support questions and feature requests can be posted on the DrupalMU issue queue while discussions are welcome at the Multi-user blogging group"

This is a really exciting project and the system works very well, I may even use the install profile for a new project I am working on (more news coming soon). It also helps with my discussion on "Is Drupal too general?" where install profiles were suggested as the solution.
