Fedora 10 on Macbook Pro
![]()
Last week I performed my yearly refresh of my Macbook Pro. I reformat the drive, reinstall the OS and import the /Users folder from Time Machine (or normal backup in the old days). This helps me flush out the crap apps, and seems to speed up, and free up the laptop.
This time I thought I would have a play with Linux, so during the refresh I created a partition and put Fedora 10 Preview on there. A lot of the Macbook Pro worked out the box including, touch pad, brightness buttons, volume buttons, backlit keyboard, wireless etc. I soon good board and thought it was time to try Kubuntu 8.10 to I whacked that on there. Not as much worked out the box and I didn't get on with KDE so I went back and tried Fedora 10.
Fedora 10 was released as final today. Rather than redownloading and burning another disk I have just installed the preview and ran "sudo yum update" and hope it updates.
I am fairly new to Linux, but have more of an understanding from a server point of view.
