Hi, I'm Tim Millwood. I am a Web Developer from Abergavenny, UK, and work for Mark Boulton Design, specializing in Drupal. This is my blog!
Blog to it - Development

Since my last post about Blog to it, 1 week and 20 hours ago, I have been working solidly on the idea. So far the development site features the creation of your own blog using wmostrey's DrupalMU install profile, Twitter integration using walkah's Twitter module and rating of blog posts using Eaton's Fivestar module.
Today I have started work on the theme of the site to try and get it to look a bit more like Blog to it and a bit less like a Drupal site. Then comes mastering FeedAPI to import all the external blog posts. The last thing to do will be custom coding to tidy up loose ends and sort out blog categories.
I am trying really hard to get this project of the ground so decided to contact someone who maybe able to help. I'm not going to go into the details but they are a big name in the venture capital and web 2.0 world. After I told them all about the project I received the respose, "There are others. Have you seen. http://blogs.com/." This made me think, can I really compete with Blog.com (which is a site by Six Apart featuring loads of blog set into categories and you can even start your own Blog using one of Six Aparts many other products). Well Six Apart are a large company in the Blogging world, but their site doesn't seem to have the "social" aspect that I am hoping to create. The respose also made me feel good the the guy read my email, and had the time to respond.
So I guess some research needs to be done into what other similar sites are out there. After having a quick look there are none that seem to offer what I want to achieve. So I will carry one, and see what everyone thinks when I am done.
