Hi, I'm Tim Millwood. I am a Web Developer from Abergavenny, UK, and work for Mark Boulton Design, specializing in Drupal. This is my blog!
iPhone 2.0 and the App Store
Today Apple released their App Store for the iPhone. The App Store can be accessed via the iPhone or iTunes and is the only place Apple is allowing users to download iPhone Apps. I guess this is a good thing because you know where everything is and it stops crap and viruses getting in, but it does stop the cool hacky software, although if you do want cool hacky software other cool hacky iPhone things can be done elsewhere.
The iPhone Apps all require the iPhone 2.0 software, this comes as standard on the iPhone 3G but can be upgraded to free of charge on the older iPhone. Apple has not release the iPhone 2.0 software yet, but thanks to Mac Rumors I got my hands on a copy.
So far I have installed a few applications including Facebook and Twitterrific which are both running really well and improve upon the normal web based solutions. Two other great apps are iPint and PhoneSaber, they use the motion sensors within the iPhone to allow you to drink a virtual pint and waive a virtual light saber.
