Blog to it

In the last week there have been two big changed to Blog to it. The first being the theme and the second being the Swekey integration.

The original Blog to it theme was starting to look very cluttered and bogged down by color (below). I wanted something brighter, fresher, more open and modern. As I am not a designer I found this quite hard.

This has been quite an eventful week for Blog to it because it was featured on the front page of Drupal.org on Thursday, and to round off the week nicely today is my birthday.

I launched Blog to it back in November 2008 and wrote a case study about the development. Since then I have been working with the Drupal site maintainers to get it on the front page. Now after 2 months it has been on the front page and the response has been great. I have seen registrations double and site visitors are up by 2000%!!!

Mashable Open Web Awards

I have been blogging about it for ages (well, a month) but today I launched the Alpha version of Blog to it.

I bet there are loads of bugs, since launch at 4pm GMT I have fixed three, but I want to get a real world view of how it is being used. I have loads of new features that I am developing for it which will come over time and be moulded to fit the usage.

Blog to it development seems to be getting to a point where I know what I am doing. I like to work in a way that I develop something to a point where I know what I am doing, then finalise how it should be done, then develop a prototype / beta.

Last week I came up with what I think is a great idea, I have Twittered a little bit about it and this has started questions on Skribit about what "Blog to it" is?
